Home Giveaway at The Players Championship at Sawgrass

Two homes were given away to two very deserving heroes on May 11th, 2011 in sunny Florida. The event was held at The Players Championship at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The homes were presented to the heroes by PGA TOUR player Jim Furyk. He said to the crowd, “My uniform is a golf shirt. Soldiers like Anthony and Nate put on the uniform of the United States of America. They have chosen to put country first and dedicate their lives to protecting and defending the greatest nation in the world. For that, we owe them a debt of gratitude. At the PGA TOUR, we give back and that’s what we’d like to do right now on behalf of the Military Warriors Support Foundation and their partners.”
He then handed over a large key to each hero, both of whom were very stunned.
Following the home giveaway and a few songs from the Navy Band Southeast, it was time to rock with country singer Darius Rucker. All in all it was a wonderful evening, full of surprise, hope, happiness and a few tears, of joy that is.
