Jacob Finger joined the Army in 1996 after his twin sister had joined the military, and talked him into joining as well. He was first stationed in Germany where he was deployed to Bosnia and Kosovo, and during his tenure of being stationed in Germany, he rose from the rank from Private to Sergeant. He was the transferred back to the U.S., where he was stationed until after 9/11 when he was deployed to Kuwait, and then into Iraq. It was during this deployment in Iraq, during a routine patrol, when his truck was hit by three 155mm artillery rounds which were buried in the road. This explosion destroyed the rear of the vehicle, sprayed hot fuel through the ventilation system, sent the antenna through the Ulnar nerve in his right arm, put his head through the bullet proof windshield of the truck, and knocked all occupants of the vehicle unconscious. He was medically retired October 2011.

Jake and his son Keanu Ares were awarded the keys to their new home located in Centennial, Colorado during the Jets game October 17, 2011.

Jake plans to on attend Graduate School and obtain a PhD. in NeuroPsychology. His head injuries and nerve damage has directed him towards the mind/body conundrum. He wants to propel humanity into a concrete understanding of neurological issues such as seizures, parkinsons/alzheimers, post stroke, and concussion related brain injuries which would lead to a definitive treatment plan.
