MWSF, San Antonio Golf Association (SGA), and Humana Military partnered to entertain the injured warriors spouses and children to an amazing four days at the La Cantera Spa and Resort Golf course. They were treated to a 18th hole air conditioned sky box full from the beginning of day to end of day food snacks and beverages. Over 300 people were able to be entertained during the three days including troops from the Texas Guard, Fort Hood, BAMC and various other locations nationally. The days at the tent included visits autographs and memorabilia by pro golfers Jason Gore, Troy Matteson, JJ Henry, mark Wilson, Matt Loving and Ted Purdy. Up to 20 spa passes at the renowned La Cantera resort were provided daily to pamper the wives of the injured warriors and in some cases the injured warriors themselves. The spa passes included pedicures, manicures, and massages. 4 injured warriors got to walk as official PGA Tour observers in the leader group during the last two days of competition. One warriors Bradley told us “I never knew a PGA course was so long----and hilly”. Two others Jeremy and Clayton after the conclusion of the round were honored afterward by the Golf Channel through a nationally televised interview about what the experiences meant to them. A special thanks to Humana Military for going above and beyond financially and with the many volunteers that partnered with MWSF and SGA volunteers to meet the every need of these brave young men and women.
