Derek Willard, the newest scholastic recipient arrived in Orlando on June 1st and joined Ryan and Britti Foster (previous scholarship recipients) in a week of fun and well deserved relaxation. Derek arrived to scout the area in expectation of his wife April and their 4 children ages 6, 4, 2, and 4 months. He was able to see where he will be living starting in September while on a full 4 year scholarship at UCF. The partnership MWSF grant includes a housing stipend at the designate apts., books, and 100% tuition for a 4 year degree and up to a Doctorate should they wish to pursue continued education. As for the trip sightseeing enjoy the photos of the wounded warriors as they experience Tampa Rays MLB, the Daytona 500racetack and Daytona Beach, and the fishing trip at the Everglades where Derek hooks an alligator with Ryan’s new rod and reel!! All in all Florida and UCF is a great place to be. If you are interested in becoming the newest scholarship recipient click here and send us a message so we can mail you an application packet.

The game begins at 4pom and the gates open at 3pm at Nelson Wolfe Municipal stadium on HWY 90 near Lackland AFB. WU has been supporting greater education in the military installations since 1976 and has over 4,000 alumni in the San Antonio area.
Mr Peter Holt, owner of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs has asked MWSF to bring wounded warrior candidate to interview for a job being his lead assistant on a project raising funds for the Veitnam Memorial Fund. The job will last about two years. The successful candidate would need a college degree and good public speaking skills. The warrior in many instances would speak with or for Mr Holt and would gain many valuable experiences in addition to having a great job. If you are interested please contact us on the contact page.
Ryan Foster has found a great way to make use of his time while recovering from severe injuries suffered in Iraq by an IED explosion. While his wife is on scholarship studying hard, Ryan has partnered with world famous Bass Pro in Florida helping at the Bass Pro lakes in the Orlando area where some really big bass reside. This has been a blessing to both Ryan and Brittni as it allows Ryan some breathing room as he transitions to his new home in Florida. No doubt he is mastering the lakes as you will see by the pictures.
